| • Can I use DriveStataion HD-CXU2 with a PC or Mac®? |
| DriveStation HD-CXU2 can be used with PC and Mac computers out of the box with no installation or formatting necessary. However, the Buffalo Tools and the hardware encryption feature only work on Windows® PCs |
| • Can I replace the hard drive in DriveStation HD-CXU2 by myself? |
| DriveStation HD-CXU2 comes equipped with a hard drive installed. It is not designed for nor does it support user hard drive replacement. Doing so will void the product warranty. The internal hard drive is a standard 3.5” SATA HDD. |
| • How does the hardware encryption work? |
| DriveStation HD-CXU2 features a dedicated hardware chip that provides AES 256-bit data encryption. The data on the drive is always encrypted by this chip, however, it is also automatically decrypted meaning any person can use it with any device that supports USB hard drives. This also means that if the drive is physically separated from the enclosure, the data on the drive will still be encrypted. Once a password has been enabled, no person or device will be able to access the data on the drive without the password. AES 256-bit encryption is of the highest commercially available on the market and represents the strongest type of encryption available for your data. |
