Stream your favorite music and videos directly from the LinkStation Pro to a PC, Mac, or network attached DLNA media player. The LinkStation Pro works with your PC and Mac and includes a built-in USB Print Server for adding and sharing a printer with multiple computers on your home network. Additionally, users can expand the storage capacity by simply attaching a USB hard drive to the back of the unit.
For on the road access of your favorite music, photos and videos, Buffalo's unique Web Access feature allows users to access files through any ordinary Web browser. Plus, as an iPhone user, you can conveniently stream content stored on your LinkStation Pro right to your iPhone, anytime, anywhere. The LinkStation Pro can also manage your torrent files with the built-in BitTorrent client. This simple but robust network storage solution can download any torrent file while you and your laptop or netbook run off to work or class. The file will be waiting for you when you return. |
| • Does the LinkStation Pro come with a hard drives, or is it a bare shell? |
| The LinkStation Pro comes with an internal hard drive. It is complete and ready to use. |
| • Can I replace the hard drive in my LinkStation Pro by myself? |
| During the warranty period, use only hard drives sold by Buffalo Technology. If maintaining your warranty is no longer a concern, most 7200 rpm SATA drives from reputable manufacturers will work fine in the LinkStation. Because of thermal and power issues, the use of drives with speeds higher than 7200 rpm is not recommended. |
| • Is the LinkStation Pro compatible with Windows Server 2000, 2003 or 2008? |
| Yes. The LinkStation Pro works perfectly with Windows Server 2000, 2003 and 2008. However, some of the included software (Memeo AutoBackup) is not compatible with server versions of Windows. |
| • Can I connect the LinkStation Pro to a PC with the USB port? |
| No, to connect the LinkStation Pro directly to a PC, use the Ethernet ports instead. The USB port on the LinkStation is designed to connect external USB devices, such as memory sticks or external hard drives, to the LinkStation Pro. Files on these devices will then be available on the network. |
| • Does the LinkStation Pro work with my Mac? |
| Yes, the LinkStation Pro works perfectly with Mac OS X 10.3.9 and later. The LinkStation Pro also provides support for Time Machine functionality. |
| • Does the Web Access feature require any software to be installed on a PC? |
| No. Buffalo Web Access feature is completely embedded into the firmware of the LinkStation. |
| • Does the Web Access feature require the subscription to a service? |
| No. Buffalo Web Access feature is completely free of charge. |
| • How does the BitTorrent download feature work? |
| The BitTorrent feature is access through a web browser where a user can upload a .torrent tracker file or simply provide a URL to a tracker. The NAS then downloads the BitTorrent file(s) to the pre-determined download directory. |
