HIGH PERFORMANCE
TeraStation Pro Rackmount features the Intel Atom D510 dual core processor, providing exceptional performance during file transfers and everyday NAS functions. TeraStation Pro Rackmount runs many services simultaneously and the dual core processor enables the ability to focus on concurrent tasks with minimal performance degradation: experience maximum network throughput while multiple PCs and servers back up simultaneously.
RELIABLE AND SECURE NETWORK STORAGE
TeraStation Pro Rackmount offers high capacity, highly available storage accessible among multiple platforms for seamless centralized storage and backup. Create user and group profiles and control folder and file access to protect business critical content and privacy. Support for multiple levels of RAID provides continuous data protection and increased fault tolerance and data availability.
DATA PROTECTION AND BACKUP
TeraStation Pro Rackmount features Buffalo's replication technology providing easy and high performance data replication from one Buffalo NAS device to another Buffalo NAS device over the network or the Internet. This offers real-time synchronous replication of data, providing easy, continuous data protection in the event of data loss. If your system configuration includes data replication from on TeraStation Pro unit to another, you can set up failover to automatically switch main operation over to the redundant TeraStation Pro if the main unit ever becomes inaccessible. Within one minute, the backup TeraStation Pro automatically assumes the role of the main TeraStation Pro with no disruption and no IT intervention. Data can be continuously accessed without any notice of the failover.
Additionally, TeraStation Pro Rackmount is bundled with 10 licenses of NovaBACKUP® Business Essentials, providing a complete, all-in-one data protection solution for small and medium businesses serious about protecting digital assets. Back up PCs, storage servers, Exchange servers and SQL databases.
REMOTE FILE ACCESS
TeraStation Pro Rackmount offers multiple ways to remotely access and share your important data for enhanced collaboration and productivity. With WebAccess and FTP/SFTP servers, you can securely access and share files with anyone outside the local network. Trusted recipients can access selected files from anywhere over the Internet and with WebAccess files can also be accessed remotely from tablet and smartphone devices.

- Does TeraStation Pro support NTFS?

NTFS is a Windows based file-system and TeraStation Pro does not run Windows. It uses a similar file-system that provides NTFS-like security. Since files are always accessed over network protocols, the file system is irrelevant to the client PCs. Permissions are set on shared folders via the TeraStation Pro web user interface. Permissions can be set as unrestricted, read-only or full access with support for both users and groups.

The TeraStation Pro comes with all internal hard drives installed and ready to use. It is complete and ready to use.

Yes, the TeraStation Pro works perfectly with Mac OS X 10.3.9 and later. The TeraStation Pro also provides support for Time Machine functionality.
close - How does TeraStation integrate with Active Directory?

The TeraStation Pro supports integration into AD domains. There is no limit to the size of the domain, however due to web site loading times in the interface, Buffalo recommends the TeraStation Pro be used in domains up to ~5,000 users as beyond that, the interface for configuration slows down. The TeraStation Pro WSS models should be used for larger domains.

The TeraStation Pro has no hardware or software limitations to the number of users it supports. It allows and supports unlimited connections over a variety of file transfer protocols. With a powerful dual-core CPU, it is designed for high load, however, depending on application and use, the device can only support up to a certain amount of users. For light office use, supporting hundreds of simultaneous users shouldn't be a problem, but more intensive applications like video, backups, etc. can reduce the number of users.

The USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports on TeraStation Pro models can be used for a variety of devices including: UPS devices for signaling safe shutdowns, printers for printer sharing and USB storage devices for backing up content on the TeraStation Pro or expanding the capacity of TeraStation Pro.

All TeraStation Pro models ship by default in RAID-6 mode, except the TeraStation Pro Duo which ships in RAID-1 mode.

TeraStation Pro models support the following RAID modes based on the number of hard drives installed. 2 Drives: JBOD, 0, 1; 4 Drives: JBOD, 0, 1, 5,6, 10; 6 Drives: JBOD, 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 51; 8 Drives: JBOD, 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 51, 60, 61. Hot-spare is also supported on all models with four drives or more.
