MiniStation Stealth features USB 2.0 for fast and easy universal connectivity. Simply plug it into any available USB port on your PC or Mac® and instantly add capacity or store files to take on the road. The preformatted hard drive requires no driver or software installation and is ready for immediate use.
COMPACT AND CONVENIENT
Designed for mobility, MiniStation Stealth occupies minimal space and offers USB 3.0 bus-powered mobile storage for your data and for your on-the-go lifestyle. It works with PC and Mac, so you can access your files from whichever computer you are on, even while on the go.
TURBOPC ENHANCEMENT
Utilizing the high speed RAM of your Windows PC, TurboPC can increase file transfer rates by up to 2X over competing USB 2.0 portable hard drives by making system adjustments to increase performance substantially.
BUFFALO TOOLS
Buffalo Tools is a feature-rich suite of optional software included on many Buffalo DriveStation and MiniStation storage products. Any or all of the following components of Buffalo Tools may be installed on Windows PCs.
- Buffalo's Backup Utility is an easy-to-use and fully featured backup software for Windows PCs and can be used to back up one or multiple computers with a single Buffalo external hard drive.
- eco Manager is an energy efficiency tool used to conserve energy and reduce battery consumption by regulating the power usage of the hard drive, cutting power to the drive during extended periods of inactivity.
- RAMDISK is a simple utility that allows you to create a RAM disk on your Windows PC which creates a small, but extremely fast environment to work on files in.
- SecureLock software for Windows® provides complete control of the data encryption on your Buffalo external hard drive, providing password protection and software data encryption.

MiniStation Stealth supports SecureLock Software Encryption for Windows PCs. SecureLock allows users to encrypt the device using software and processing power from the Windows PC, preventing access to hard drive's data without the specified password.
close - Can I replace the hard drives in MiniStation Stealth by myself?

MiniStation Stealth comes equipped with a hard drive installed. It is not designed for nor does it support for users hard drive replacement. Doing so will void the product warranty. The internal hard drive is a standard 2.5"

Yes, MiniStation Stealth features a standard Mini-USB connection and supports use with user supplied USB cables.

MiniStation Stealth does not require any software to use as an external hard drive in Windows or Mac. The Buffalo Tools suite is optional software that provides performance enhancing technologies, backup and encryption amongst other features. To use these features, software components must be used.

Yes, MiniStation Stealth supports Mac OS X. However, components of Buffalo Tools may not work in Mac OS.

MiniStation Stealth features Buffalo Tools and TurboPC. TurboPC also includes the TurboCopy component. Together, these two pieces of Windows® software enhance the USB connection between your PC and the drive and add an additional file manager tool for copying files quicker. By utilizing the PC's high-speed RAM, data can be transferred much more efficiently and quickly. Depending on the environment, TurboPC and Turbo Copy can provide file transfers over twice as fast. On average, gains of around 50+% are typical.

MiniStation Stealth features, at minimum, a high-speed 5,400rpm SATA hard drive. USB 2.0 interfaces are considerably slower than hard drive speeds so the need for higher speed hard drives is not necessary. Higher speed hard drives produce more heat and use more power; 5,400 rpm was optimally chosen for reliability, performance and power utilization.

MiniStation Stealth is designed with style and portability in mind; it does not contain any shock absorbing components and is not recommended in environments where it will be subject to shocks and drops. Please see the MiniStation Metro for ruggedized applications.
