What is the difference between Router and Access Point mode?

Buffalo Wireless Routers supports both Router and Access Point mode.

The default mode is Wireless Router where the AirStation provides routing and Internet sharing services of an Internet connection.

Access Point mode is designed for environments where a router network already exists; a user simply plugs in the "access point" and it adds wireless capability to the established network.
