Business Development Manager, DMR Channel Austin, TX

Job Description:

The BDM will grow Buffalo sales within identified DMR/Etailer target market; increase Buffalo market share for networking and storage categories; develop strong business relationships and provide solutions for customers using company products. The BDM will be able to evangelize and promote company products, and provide excellent customer service to customers as appropriate.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop relationships with resellers to facilitate the growth on Buffalo products in the DMR/Etailer channel.
  • Plan individual account strategies in order to increase Buffalo marketshare within accounts
  • Support bid opportunities for DMR/Etailers
  • Understand the customer needs and establish Buffalo as the best solution for the meeting the customer’s needs
  • Identify customers needing training and facilitate training for customers on Buffalo’s solution offering
  • Continuously prospect DMR/Etailer base to uncover new opportunities
  • Drive sales initiatives to increase Buffalo product breadth within assigned territory
  • Attain quarterly and annual objectives assigned by management
  • Understand and uphold company policies and practices
  • Able to negotiate skillfully, promote/sell ideas persuasively, and close transactions with mutually beneficial results.
  • Attend training and develop relevant knowledge and product skills to effectively communicate our value proposition.

Required Skills:

  • 4 year college degree
  • 2 years previous sales field work experience within the technology industry
  • Solid oral, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proven time management skills in a dynamic sales environment
  • Ability to work as part of a team to increase Buffalo growth within set customer base
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 75% of the time
  • Microsoft Office expertise (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Sales Executives are responsible for cultivating sales of our memory products by establishing and maintaining relationships with white box builders, distributors and/or reseller accounts throughout the United States. Must uphold company values and establish effective communications with appropriate executives, buyers and managers to ensure proper delivery of products.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

Please have strong negotiating skills, strong telephone communication skills, an excellent knowledge of computer components and solution selling. Sales executives should be well organized, tenacious, aggressive, and highly self-motivated. You should have the ability to network and establish strong customer relationships. Professional appearance and presentation required. A solid knowledge of PC hardware and peripherals with an emphasis on Computer Memory is a plus.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Maintain and develop existing and new customers through planned individual account strategies, and liaison with internal order-processing staff.
  • Consistently carry out and convey market research, competitor and customer surveys.
  • Attend training and develop relevant knowledge and product skills to effectively communicate our value proposition.
  • Utilize prospecting procedure to develop and qualify leads, reporting the results through the normal pipeline procedure
  • Accurately forecast annual, quarterly and monthly revenue and product volumes.

The Field Sales Engineer will support the sales and marketing teams in promoting, demonstrating and designing solutions using company products and services; assist customers and partners in their evaluation, implementation and delivery of solutions. The Field Sales Engineer will evangelize and promote company products and services through demonstrations, trade shows and seminars, and provide excellent customer service by furnishing pre- and post- sales support to customers and partners as appropriate.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Participate in all appropriate product, sales, and procedural training and certification to acquire and maintain the knowledge necessary to be effective in the position
  • Support Sales initiatives to introduce new products, technologies.

  • Drive sales initiatives involving quality issues and action items related to various products.
  • Create, Develop, and Deliver sales and technical training to partners and customers
  • Attain quarterly and annual objectives assigned by management

Required Skills:

  • B.S. Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS or equivalent work experience
  • Previous experience as a sales engineer for a high-tech company
  • Solid oral, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proven time management skills in a dynamic sales environment
  • Ability to work as part of a team to solve technical problems in varied political environments
  • Ability to travel domestically
  • Thorough understanding of networking and wireless technologies. Antenna theory, RF theory, windows administration, Linux and BSD based OS administration. Hard drive technologies, RAID technology, network switching, TCP/IP, network storage (NAS), audio/video components, and multimedia. MacOS X knowledge a plus but not required.
  • Must be able to provide lucid descriptions of technical features and products to a less technical audience as well as prepare extremely technical white-paper documentation.
