- Can I connect the LinkStation Pro to a PC with the USB port?

To connect the LinkStation Pro directly to a PC, use the Ethernet port. The USB port is designed to connect external USB devices, such as memory sticks or external hard drives, to the LinkStation Pro. Files on these devices will then be available on the network.
close - Can I replace the hard drive in my LinkStation Pro by myself?

During the warranty period, use only hard drives sold by Buffalo Technology. If maintaining your warranty is no longer a concern, most 7200 rpm SATA drives from reputable manufacturers will work fine in the LinkStation. Because of thermal and power issues, the use of drives with speeds higher than 7200 rpm is not recommended.

The LinkStation Pro comes with one internal hard drive. It is complete and ready to use.

Yes, the LinkStation Pro works perfectly with Mac OS X 10.3.9 and later. The LinkStation Pro also provides support for Time Machine functionality.

No. Buffalo Web Access feature is completely embedded into the firmware of the LinkStation.

The BitTorrent feature is access through a web browser where a user can upload a .torrent tracker file or simply provide a URL to a tracker. The LinkStation Pro then downloads the BitTorrent file(s) to the pre-determined download directory.

The LinkStation Pro features a 1.6 GHz embedded processor and DDR3 RAM and can achieve gigabit network transfer speeds of up to 76 MB/s (608 Mb/s). Depending on network conditions and the types of files being transferred, performance may vary.

The LinkStation Pro does not have a specific user limit and can conceivably support unlimited users. However, depending on the application and use case, the device may provide limited user support. Although the LinkStation Pro can support hundreds of users simultaneously in simple environments (sharing word documents, etc.), it is designed for homes and small offices with up to approximately 50 basic users.

Yes. The LinkStation Pro works perfectly with Windows Server 2000, 2003 and 2008. However, some of the included software (NovaStor NovaBACKUP) is not compatible with server versions of Windows.
