Description

LinkStation Pro Quad LS-QVL/R5 network hard drive array offers instant storage expansion and file access on your home network and over the Internet. Twice as fast as a standard NAS, LinkStation Pro Quad features a high-speed, 1.6 GHz processor for maximum transfer speeds up to 72 MBps. Plug it into any Ethernet port or into the back of your wireless router and access it on any networked device in your house. Equipped with LinkStation Pro Quad is a built-in BitTorrent™ client, a DLNA Certi­fied™ media server and an iTunes® server for effort-free downloading and streaming your favorite movies, photos, music and more. 

LinkStation Pro Quad features four hard drives and support for multiple levels of RAID redundancy for a customizable blend of capacity and data protection. Included NovaBACKUP® Professional software for Windows® and Time Machine® support provide a whole home backup solution for every PC and Mac® on your network.

While on the go, Buffalo’s free WebAccess service allows you to create a personal cloud for easy remote access and file sharing with anyone, anywhere over the Internet. BitTorrent® Downloader

Powered by the leading BitTorrent client, uTorrent, LinkStation Pro Quad can download any BitTorrent files automatically without your PC being on. Simply paste a torrent URL into the LinkStation uTorrent application and then turn off your PC.
• How fast is the LinkStation Pro Quad?
The LinkStation Pro Quad features a 1.6 GHz embedded processor and DDR3 RAM and can achieve gigabit network transfer speeds of up to 72 MB/s (560 Mb/s). Depending on network conditions and the types of files being transferred, performance may vary.
• Does the LinkStation Pro Quad come with hard drives or is it an empty enclosure?
The LinkStation Pro Quad comes equipped with four hard drives installed and offers easy hard drive maintenance. Simply pull the front cover off with your fingers and slide a 3.5” SATA hard drive and sleigh into or out of the bay. No tools are required.
• Can I use the Time Machine function to back up multiple Mac computers?
Yes. The LinkStation Pro Quad has an integrated Time Machine server allowing multiple Mac computers to back up to the Time Machine server.
• What devices can I connect to the LinkStation Pro Quad USB ports?
The USB port supports three types of devices: 1) USB storage devices - a USB storage device can be added to store data backups of the LinkStation Pro Quad or to be used as an additional data share. 2) USB Printers - a USB printer can be added and shared through the LinkStation Pro Quad, providing entire home or office access to a printer over the network. LinkStation Pro Quad only supports one-way communication and provides printing but not advanced scanning and faxing functionality. 3) UPS Devices - A support UPS or battery backup device can be added and connected via the USB port. When using the USB port, the UPS device can signal when it is running low on battery and perform a safe shutdown, and it will also turn the LinkStation Pro Quad back on when power has been restored.
• How many users does the LinkStation Pro Quad support?
The LinkStation Pro Quad does not have a specific user limit and can conceivably support unlimited users. However, depending on the application and use case, the device may provide limited user support. Although the LinkStation Pro Quad can support hundreds of users simultaneously in simple environments (sharing word documents, etc.), it is designed for homes and small offices with up to approximately 50 basic users.
• What capacity will the device have in different RAID modes?
The four-drive NAS products support RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5 and RAID 10. In RAID 0, all four hard drives are combined to provide maximum storage equivalent to the stated capacity of the device. However, in RAID 0 there is no data redundancy. RAID 1 is configurable using a set of two hard drives, allowing two independent RAID 1 arrays providing half of the stated maximum capacity. RAID 5 is the default mode which combines all four drives into a parity and redundant state offering 75% of the usable capacity while maintaining drive redundancy. RAID 10 combines mirroring and striping providing high performance and data redundancy while offering half of the stated capacity.
• How does the BitTorrent download feature work?
The BitTorrent feature is access through a web browser where a user can upload a .torrent tracker file or simply provide a URL to a tracker. The LinkStation Pro Quad then downloads the BitTorrent file(s) to the pre-determined download directory.
