900 Mbps is the maximum aggregate wireless signal rate derived from IEEE 802.11n standard specifications achievable using three streams of 150 Mbps each on two concurrent bands, 1300 Mbps is the maximum wireless signal rate derived from IEEE 802.11ac (Draft 2.0) standard specifications achievable using three streams of 433 Mbps each. Actual data throughput and range will vary depending upton network conditions and environmental factors, including volume of network traffic, building materials and construction and network overhead. Maximum speed and range is achievable when used with same enhanced mode technology.

You've set up your Buffalo AirStation™ router. Now it's time to transform that signal into a home network, connecting your wireless devices. But wait, does that mean more configurations in the Web UI? What level of security should be used? What's the LAN-side IP address again? Don't sweat the details! Buffalo has made it push-button easy to securely network supported wireless devices from Buffalo, Sony and Nintendo.

Buffalo Solution

Securing wireless transmissions has long been viewed as a difficult and intimidating task, requiring elaborate security keys and multiple support resources. Buffalo's AirStation One-touch Secure System™ (AOSS) eliminates the complexity, creating and maintaining the most secure wireless connection between devices possible, all with the simple push of a button! Within minutes, and in five "behind-the-scenes" steps, your AOSS enabled wireless clients and other devices will establish a secure connection with your Buffalo AirStation router. Here's how!

Press the AOSS button on the supporting wireless client or device and then on the AirStation router. Now sit down, kick back and let Buffalo do the work.

AOSS (AirStation One Touch Secure System)

  1. ASSOCIATION:Once AOSS is initiated on both the AOSS supporting wireless client and the AirStation router, the two devices establish association with a 64-bit WEP key.
  2. KEY GENERATION:After successful authentication, the AirStation router works its magic, creating keys and working with algorithms to eventually create and publish four encryption keys and respective SSIDs (packets) for use by all wireless clients and devices on the network, even those that do not support AOSS.
  3. INFORMATION EXCHANGE:The AOSS client then speaks to the AirStation router, exchanging encryption support information.
  4. KEY TRANSFER: The AirStation router then sends all four packets to the connected client to create four potential profiles, regardless of what encryption types are supported.
  5. REBOOT STACK: Applying the highest level of security protocol supported on the device, the AirStation router then reboots with the newly assigned SSID and encryption packet. The client then reboots and detects which SSID is running, applying the proper encryption key.

How AOSS™ Handles Security

Piece of cake, right? Well, it's simple for you anyhow!

When an AOSS network is established, the client and router automatically negotiate the highest level of security supported. And, once the first AOSS setup is initiated, you can easily add and remove devices without having to revisit the initial setup process. As security methods evolve, AOSS will evolve right alongside, always providing the highest level of security without the need to upgrade your wireless router.
