The example below is the basic redundant Multipath connection.

Install the MPIO feature

1.    Open the Windows Server Manager, and click Add roles and features.

2.    In the Add Roles and Features Wizard, click Next until the “Features” selection appears.

3.    Scroll down and select Multipath I/O from the list. Then click Next.

4.    Click Install to install the MPIO feature. This will take several minutes.

Enable the MPIO support

5.    MPIO support for iSCSI devices can be added via the MPIO tool from Administrative Tools.

6.    In MPIO Properties, switch to Discover Multi-Paths tab.
Check the option of “Add support for iSCSI device”. Then click “Add”.

7.    A system reboot is required for settings to take effect.

Setup iSCSI Multipath connection (Make sure step.6 and a system reboot has been completed)
8.    Use the iSCSI Initiator to connect to TeraStation iSCSI volume.

9.    Make sure to check the “Enable multi-path” when connecting the target.

10.    In Advanced Settings, select the corresponding Initiator/Target portal IP. Click OK when finished.

11.    Again at the Targets tab, repeat Step.8-10, but select the second connecting path.

12.    Now the Multipath connection has been established successfully.
To confirm, click “Properties….” at the Targets tab

13.    At the sessions tab, click “Devices…”;

14.    Then click “MPIO”. This button will grey out if Multipath connection has not been setup properly.

15.    Here will show the 2 connected paths. You will also be able to change the load balance policy from the drop down.

16.    Also check the Properties of the connected iSCSI disk from Windows Disk Manager. If you have two exact same iSCSI disks showing here, please check your MPIO configuration again.

17.    At the MPIO tab, the 2 connected path should also be shown. Now MPIO has been setup properly and ready for use.
